Fourth-gen Demeter biodynamic estate in Eguisheim

Domaine Hebinger is a fourth-generation family estate in Eguisheim, Alsace, founded in 1942 and now run by Christian, Véronique, and their son Denis Hebinger. The estate began transitioning to biodynamic farming in 2006, earning Demeter certification in 2011. The 11.2-hectare property includes parcels on four Grand Crus — Pfersigberg and Eichberg in Eguisheim, Hengst in Wintzenheim, and Sommerberg in Niedermorschwihr — planted on predominantly marl-limestone soils worked without herbicides. Grapes are hand-harvested and vinified into around fifteen distinct cuvées (roughly 55,000 bottles a year) spanning Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Noir, each aiming for precision and a clear sense of place.
