Domaine Gruss is a three-generation family estate in the heart of Eguisheim, Alsace, founded in 1962 by Joseph Gruss with just 4 hectares. The domaine grew under his son Bernard and is now run by third-generation winemaker André Gruss and his wife Nina. Today the family farms roughly 15-16 hectares split across some 42-49 small parcels in four communes — Eguisheim, Wettolsheim, Herrlisheim, and Rouffach — on predominantly limestone-marl and sandstone soils at 280-340m elevation. Their holdings include prized parcels in the Grands Crus Eichberg, Pfersigberg, and Vorbourg. The estate practices lutte raisonnée (low-intervention, sustainable viticulture), using homemade compost and working the soils by hand, and produces more than 25 different cuvées each vintage across the classic Alsatian varieties — Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Noir — as well as multiple cuvées of Cremant d'Alsace, for which the domaine is particularly well regarded. Their wines have won gold medals at the Concours de Colmar and the Concours National des Cremants. Balance, purity, and elegance are the family's stated winemaking leitmotifs.
