Purity-driven natural wines from Jura's Rotalier hamlet

Domaine Buronfosse is a small natural wine estate in La Combe de Rotalier, in the Sud Revermont area of the Jura, run by Peggy and Jean-Pascal Buronfosse. The couple, both trained in agriculture, settled in the hamlet in the mid-1990s—next door to Jean-François Ganevat—and leased their first vines in 2000, gradually building a 4.5-hectare domaine planted mainly to Chardonnay and Savagnin, with Poulsard, Pinot Noir and Trousseau for the reds. Guided early on by neighbors Ganevat and Julien Labet, they farm organically (Ecocert-certified since 2010) and work increasingly biodynamically, though without formal certification. In the cellar, fermentations are spontaneous, sulfur additions are minimal to none, and wines are aged in old Burgundian barrels, producing bottlings celebrated for their purity, precision and vibrant acidity.
