Founded in 1998 by Alberto Carnasciali and his wife Franca Buzzegoli, Col di Bacche is a family-run estate in Magliano in Toscana (Grosseto), on the edge of the Maremma Natural Park. The couple purchased roughly 18 hectares of south/south-west-facing hillside with predominantly sandy, calcareous soils, planting around 13-15 hectares of vineyard at altitudes between 150 and 260 meters. Sangiovese dominates in the heart of the Morellino di Scansano DOCG zone, alongside a small planting of Vermentino used for a fresh, saline Maremma Toscana white, and international varieties (Merlot, Cabernet) that go into the IGT Toscana red 'Cupinero'. The estate favors manual harvesting and avoids herbicides, and its wines are regularly featured in the Slow Wine and Gambero Rosso guides.
