Clos Bateau

クロ・バトー

Living wines from Lantignié, crafted with deep respect for nature.

Founded in 2019 by Dutch couple Sylvie and Thierry Klok de Visser, Clos Bateau is a small, nature-focused domaine in Lantignié, Beaujolais. After leaving their restaurant careers in Amsterdam, they dedicated themselves to crafting 'Vins Vivants' (living wines) on their 5.5-hectare estate of old-vine Gamay and a small parcel of Chardonnay. They prioritize biodiversity by planting over 100 fruit and nut trees, using herbal infusions for vine health, and integrating animals like pigs, goats and chickens into the vineyard ecosystem. Their winemaking is strictly low-intervention: spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, no filtration, no fining, and minimal to zero added sulfites, with cellar decisions guided by the lunar cycle.
