Château Moncets
シャトー・モンセ
Organically-certified Right Bank estate revitalized since 2012, crafting elegant Merlot-dominant wines with 16-month French oak aging and world-class consulting.
Founded in 1770 and named after Général de Moncets who acquired it in 1872, Château Moncets is a distinguished 19-hectare estate in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation. The property was formerly owned by the de Jerphanion family, with Baron Louis Gabriel de Jerphanion as the last family head, who sold it in 2012 to a Breton family. Since 2012, the estate has undergone a comprehensive renovation of vines and cellars, and in 2015 a second vineyard, Château de Chambrun, was integrated. The estate converted to organic farming in 2018 and holds both organic (AB) and High Environmental Value (HVE) certifications. Consulting oenologists Michel Rolland (from 2012) and Thomas Duclos of Laboratoire Oenoteam (from 2018) have guided the winemaking. The estate comprises 21 parcels on dark clay soils with 5,500–6,500 vines/ha, vinified in a gravity-fed, temperature-controlled concrete vat house with a 350-barrel French oak cellar. The flagship wine ages 16 months in French oak barrels, producing elegant, Merlot-dominant blends that showcase the Right Bank's terroir.
