Moulin de Duhart

ムーラン・ド・デュアール

Château Duhart-Milon

Cabernet Sauvignon · Merlot

About this wine

Moulin de Duhart is the second wine of the prestigious Fourth Growth Château Duhart-Milon in Pauillac, Bordeaux. Crafted from younger vines and barrels not selected for the Grand Vin, it offers a more accessible and earlier-drinking expression of the Pauillac terroir. The blend typically features a higher proportion of Merlot than the flagship wine, resulting in a softer, rounder texture while maintaining the classic elegance, structure, and graphite notes characteristic of the Pauillac appellation. It showcases refined tannins and vibrant dark fruit aromas of blackcurrant and plum, with hints of cedar and pencil shavings, and is designed to be enjoyed within 5 to 8 years of the vintage.

Beginner's Note

An ideal entry point to experience the prestige of a Pauillac Grand Cru Classé estate without the wait. Decant for 30 minutes and enjoy within 5 to 8 years of the vintage for the best experience.

Sommelier's Note

"The best value expression of the Duhart-Milon estate — it captures the classic Pauillac elegance with immediate charm, ready to enjoy tonight without compromise."

Food Pairings

Pairs excellently with roasted lamb, grilled beef, duck breast, and hard cheeses. Complements earthy dishes like mushroom risotto or truffle-infused pasta. The slightly higher Merlot gives it versatility across a wider range of dishes than the Grand Vin.

When to drink it

Perfect for sophisticated dinner parties, celebratory meals, or as a thoughtful gift for Bordeaux enthusiasts seeking quality without the premium price tag of the Grand Vin.

Terroir & Winemaking

Produced from younger vines (under 10–12 years old) and lots not selected for the Grand Vin at Château Duhart-Milon. Vinification follows the same methods as the Grand Vin — temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation — but aged in a lower proportion of new oak barrels. The higher Merlot content is a deliberate choice to enhance suppleness and early drinkability while retaining Pauillac typicity.
