Château Certan de May is a historic 5.5-hectare estate on Pomerol's prestigious central plateau, surrounded by Vieux Château Certan and La Fleur-Pétrus. The de May family of Scottish origin were granted the land by royal decree in the 16th century; ownership passed to the Barreau family in 1925. Today directed by Jean-Luc Barreau with winemaking consultation by Jean-Claude Berrouet (since 2013, formerly Michel Rolland), and distributed by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix. The single-block vineyard is planted to 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon on clay and gravel soils, yielding approximately 2,000 cases annually.
