Cave d'Occi

カーブドッチ

Pioneer of the Niigata Wine Coast, crafting elegant wines on coastal sandy soil.

Established in 1992 by founder Kiichiro Ochi at the foot of Mt. Kakuda in Kakudahama, Niigata, Cave d'Occi is the pioneer winery of the Niigata Wine Coast. Ochi studied winemaking in Germany and was influenced by an extended stay in Napa Valley, returning to Japan with the ambition to build an entire wine region — not just a single winery — from scratch. The estate's coastal sandy soil, blown in from the nearby Sea of Japan shoreline, drains excellently and produces delicate, elegant wines from European varieties such as Albariño and Chardonnay. The property has grown into a comprehensive wine resort with a restaurant, bakery, garden shop, and hot spring facilities alongside the winery and vineyards.
