Founded in 1952 when 65 winegrowing families from Beblenheim and neighboring villages banded together after a catastrophic hailstorm vintage, Cave de Beblenheim has grown into one of Alsace's leading cooperative wineries. Today more than 160 grower-members cultivate over 370 hectares of vines around the Haut-Rhin village of Beblenheim, including plots on four Grand Cru sites — Sonnenglanz, Mandelberg, Froehn, and Schoenenbourg. The cooperative produces around six million bottles a year, roughly a quarter of them Crémant d'Alsace, a specialty it has cultivated since first experimenting with the traditional method in 1980. Alongside its sparkling wines, Cave de Beblenheim bottles the full range of Alsatian varietals — Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Noir — grown under HVE3-certified sustainable practices.
