A historic estate in the Dudda valley of Greve in Chianti, owned by the François family since 1897, when Carlo François acquired the medieval castle. Now farmed by the fifth generation under Simone and Lia François, the 190-hectare property includes some 60-65 hectares of vineyards spread across more than 25 parcels at 400-600 meters above sea level, on the estate's distinctive polychrome Cretaceous-Eocene schist soils. Castello di Querceto was one of the 33 founding members of the Consorzio Chianti Classico in 1924. Sangiovese leads the plantings, alongside Canaiolo, Colorino and small amounts of international varieties, producing terroir-driven Chianti Classico, Riserva and Gran Selezione wines (including Il Picchio and La Corte) prized for elegance, structure and aging potential.
