The estate played a pivotal role in the region's history: Bettino Ricasoli, ancestor of the current owner Giovanni Ricasoli-Firidolfi, is credited with formulating the original Chianti recipe, and Luigi Ricasoli-Firidolfi was a founding member of the Chianti Classico Consortium in 1924.
