Cascina Baricchi
カッシーナ・バリッキ
The world's leading standard-bearer for pure Nebbiolo Rosé.
Cascina Baricchi is a small family estate in Neviglie, on the edge of the official Barbaresco zone in Piedmont, Italy, run by Natale Simonetta and his wife Francesca. Natale trained under the legendary Bruno Giacosa starting at age 24, and later studied at Montpellier before stages in Champagne and Burgundy. Giacosa entrusted him with the historic Casasse vineyard on the condition that he bottle a Barbaresco made entirely from Nebbiolo Rosé, a rare and nearly forgotten aromatic cousin of standard Nebbiolo that fell out of favor after the 1950s shift toward higher-yielding clones. The result, 'Rosé delle Casasse,' comes from twenty rows of Nebbiolo Rosé planted in 1913 on a west-facing slope of clay, sand and limestone Sant'Agata marl on the border of Neive and Neviglie — among the oldest Nebbiolo Rosé vines in existence. The estate produces roughly 10,000 bottles of Barbaresco Riserva per year, all farmed organically with utterly traditional winemaking: long macerations and patient aging in neutral, well-used barrels that let the fruit and terroir speak without oak influence.
