Capannelle
カパンネッレ
A boutique icon of Gaiole, crafting elegant, technically precise Chianti Classico.
Capannelle is a boutique winery in Gaiole in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, farming approximately 16 hectares of vineyards. Founded in 1974 by Raffaele Rossetti on the site of a historic villa, the estate was among the first in Tuscany to adopt stainless steel fermentation and, from 1977, French oak barrique aging, pairing technical precision with expressive terroir. In 1997 it was acquired by James B. Sherwood, founder of Orient-Express Hotels (later Belmond), who expanded the vineyards and modernized the underground cellars. Capannelle produces around 80,000 bottles a year, including Chianti Classico Riserva and Gran Selezione, the Sangiovese-Malvasia Nera blend Solare, the collaborative Sangiovese-Merlot blend 50&50 (with Avignonesi), Chardonnay, Rosato, grappa, and estate olive oil, distributed to fine restaurants and wine shops in some 35 countries.
