Founded in 1998 by the German entrepreneurial Knauf family, Campo alla Sughera is a boutique estate located between Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci on the Tuscan coast. The estate comprises roughly 22 hectares, with about 16.5-18.5 hectares under vine spread across some 40 plots, planted mainly to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Vermentino. Since 2017 the winery has worked with renowned Bordeaux-based oenologist Stephane Derenoncourt alongside winemaker Francesco Gagliardi, using detailed plot-by-plot analysis and separate microvinifications to express the many microterroirs of the property. Today the estate is led by the next generation of the Knauf family, Isabel and Frederick Knauf. Its flagship wines, Arnione (Bolgheri Superiore DOC) and Adeo (Bolgheri Rosso DOC), alongside the Arioso Vermentino, have earned strong scores from James Suckling, Wine Spectator and Decanter, establishing the estate as one of Bolgheri's benchmark boutique producers.
