Founded in 1998 in the hills of Riparbella, in the province of Pisa, Caiarossa is a 100-hectare estate with roughly 16 hectares under vine, located just outside the Bolgheri DOC boundary in the Toscana IGT zone (Tuscan coast, Val di Cecina). Since 2004 the property has been owned by the Dutch Albada Jelgersma family, also proprietors of Château Giscours, a Grand Cru Classé in Margaux, Bordeaux. Caiarossa has farmed biodynamically since its founding, has been certified organic since 2003, and achieved Demeter biodynamic certification in 2005. The estate's iron-rich, diverse soils and maritime climate support Bordeaux varieties (Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon) alongside Sangiovese, Syrah, Vermentino, Chardonnay and Viognier, producing complex, terroir-driven Super Tuscan wines such as the flagship Caiarossa blend, Pergolaia, and Aria di Caiarossa.
