Badia a Passignano
バディア・ア・パッシニャーノ
Antinori's abbey estate behind the iconic 100% Sangiovese Gran Selezione.
Badia a Passignano is Marchesi Antinori's historic estate at the heart of Chianti Classico, built around a Vallombrosan abbey (Badia di San Michele Arcangelo a Passignano) first documented in the 890s and still partly inhabited by monks. Near San Donato in Poggio, the 223-hectare property (about 65 hectares under vine) sits on limestone-and-clay soils at roughly 300 meters altitude. It produces the single-vineyard Badia a Passignano Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, made entirely from Sangiovese and aged in the abbey's 10th-century cellars, alongside the Michelin-starred Osteria di Passignano restaurant on the same grounds.
