Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute was founded in 2000 when Ambrogio Folonari and his son Giovanni, members of the historic Folonari family (former owners of Ruffino), split off their own portfolio of Tuscan estates following the family's division of assets. Based in Greve in Chianti, the company today owns and manages several historic properties across Tuscany's key appellations, including Tenuta di Nozzole in Chianti Classico, Le Tenute del Cabreo (source of the estate's Super Tuscans), Tenuta La Fuga in Montalcino, Campo al Mare in Bolgheri, and Vigne a Porrona in the Maremma. Sangiovese, produced in purity at Nozzole, is the estate's flagship grape, and the wines are built around a philosophy of elegance, strong territorial identity, and respect for each estate's distinct terroir. Giovanni Folonari, who trained at UC Davis's enology program and has cited Michel Rolland and Franco Bernabei among his influences, now leads the company as President alongside his father Ambrogio as Honorary President.
