Akeno Vineyard is a member-driven vineyard project founded in April 2021 in the Asaobara area of Akeno, Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture — a district renowned for having Japan's longest recorded sunshine hours. The project was launched by a grower with 24 years of vineyard management experience at Chuo Budoshu (Grace Wine) and is cultivated largely by members of the 'Akeno Vineyard Club,' wine enthusiasts who take part directly in vineyard work under a philosophy of harmony between people, nature, and the local community. Across roughly 2 hectares, the vineyard grows both European varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay) and Koshu. Following its first harvest and winemaking in 2022, the estate released its first wines and juices to the public in 2024. Because the club does not operate its own winery, grapes are vinified on a contract basis at partner wineries such as Yatsugatake Organic Vineyard and Komazono Vineyard, with the specific partner varying by vintage.
